One of the greatest game ever made with most likely the best soundtrack ever written. I remember playing it back in the day and thinking "this music is insane." Even today it's phenomenal. Hence the remake.

Favorite example of something that’s just 4/4 with weird tempo changes is Strong One Masked Man from Mother 3. Sounds like it could be in 29/16, but it’s actually just 4/4

There is so much depth and nuance to this song that can’t be perceived by your path…OUR…our pathetic human ears. Perhaps we just don’t understand the culture of a vastly more evolved and stronger life form. We should all just put down our arms, and accept the Robots as our new perfect overlords.

We are all gasping and gagging for it out here!! 😢

Take a look at "The Last Ninja" or "The Last Ninja 2" for the Commodore-64. It can make 2 regular notes which could each be different instruments and a 3rd channel that could be white-noise that could work as percussions. Here is a sample: ua-cam.com/video/1ok1ChTtWQI/v-deo.html

I dont when first heatd this song, probably a movie, I know i know This Song Because of the Evil Within Videogame, i see people reaction for this music for as the most beautiful song ever and i agree! I think pretty much this song is the most famous on This Generation and Young Geeneration because is the most beautiful classical song i ever heard, and many agree but not eveybody, i say this is not an complex song with many more notes per second like Beethoven's Hits lol, But i believe Clair de Lune is the most beautiful.

You should check out the Shovel Knight soundtrack! The composer, Jake Kaufman, wrote the soundtrack within the confines of only 5 bits, like the OG NES games. Some of the songs he made for the game are insane. Hidden by Night from the Specter of Torment is definitely one of his best, especially when you consider the story of the game along with it.

I'll never not be amazed by how such harmonies seem to be so alien to western listeners. I'm Bulgarian, and when I look up 'dissonant choral music', about half of the results are choirs singing traditional Bulgarian music. Which is not that harmonically dissimilar to what these ladies are doing in the first piece. However, to me it sounds completely natural (I'm not even a fan of Bulgarian folk music so it's not like I'm listening to it for fun, and therefore, I'm not listening to a lot of it). It may be because I've been hearing similar sounds all around me regardless of whether I like it or not. The rythmical complexities also seem pretty natural to me. I think that, as you mentioned, this music comes from African tradition. And I assume all around the world people have developed these musical traditions which, when compared to modern mainstream music, seem to be rather complex and strange, but in reality they were mostly created by people with no formal musical training, and are just what came naturally to people. I think this type of harmonic and rythmical structures are really what comes naturally to people all over the world if they have no prior conditioning, but 'the west' (of course I'm generaising) has been heavily conditioned to seek a certain type of straightforward feel in music which feels 'right'...
